[I]s there anyone on television more ruthless, more devious, and more fun to watch than US President Frank Underwood, a.k.a. Kevin Spacey in ‘House of Cards’? He had me hooked in the show’s very first season, when he strangled a pet dog in his bare hands, in a considerate bid to end the dog’s suffering, and demonstrate his willingness to get hands dirty for achieving a practical and desirable outcome.

While I personally would stop short of dog-strangling after all I’m not an attorney (j/k I know ya’ll pay the bills), I have to admire Frank’s relentless, single-minded dedication to achieving a goal. Having assumed the Presidency by default following the ex-President’s resignation, Frank must now exert all his cunning and Machiavellian political savvy to be elected by the popular vote. That has the promise of a delicious new theme for the upcoming season, set for release on March 4, 2016.

House of Cards Season 4

By now, you’ve undoubtedly seen the ‘FU2016’ motto circulating around the Internet and media outlets, which serves the dual purpose of announcing Frank Underwood’s candidacy and declaring his not-so-subtle political platform. With everybody’s actions shackled by political correctness and concern for a dozen different varieties of sensitivity, it’s pretty darn refreshing to watch Frank bulldoze everyone in his path, albeit while skillfully deflecting culpability.

House of Cards Season 4, with the usual great performances by the cast, and new cast member Neve Campbell. You may remember Ms. Campbell from the ‘Scream’ series of movies, as well as from ‘Party of Five’. Her character is supposed to become a regular on the show, and hints suggest that she will play a power-hungry woman who uses the damaged relationship between Frank and Claire to her advantage.

March 4th is a Friday, so there’s no reason why you can’t hole up in front of your flat-screen, order a pizza (or two), and tune in to Netflix for a devilishly satisfying weekend binge. The only possible bad thing to come out of such a weekend is – the actual 2016 US Presidential election may seem like a colossal yawner, compared to the machete politics of Frank Underwood. Enjoy!
